The aim of this article is to show how the incumbent Catholicos, Karekin II,
successfully enhances the scope of official influence by political and public spheres.
Analysis of his public speeches within the last 12 years will help the author to
show how Catholicos rebuild the position of Armenian Church as an institution
supporting political power and being authorised to participate in decision making
on strategic topics as Nagorno Karabakh conflict and economic development while
not decreasing its role as a guard of truth and morality.
