ABSTRACT
The article includes the description and explanation of the mechanisms of attracting
social attention by politicians. These mechanisms are of intentional character and
emerge from deliberate and planned actions, but also unintentional, resulting from
involuntary motivations. The author analyses the essence of social attention and
its psychological and social character. She underlines that in the sphere of politics,
there is a specific contest for attention.
