ABSTRACT
The article is dedicated to signify the classical/«Duvergerian» and post-classical/«post- Duvergerian» approaches to the definition of semi-presidentialism. The researcher argued that all definitions of semi-presidentialism are advisable to be divided and structured into minimalist and maximalist, relational (subjective, researcher-dependent) and dispositional (objective, researcher-independent) ones. However, it was found that each group of definitions of semi-presidentialism has its strengths and weaknesses, which are advisable to be taken into account and to be imposed with the result that promotes renewed or synthetic definition of semi-presidentialism. It has been applied and verified by the example of Central and Eastern European countries.
